Rihanna, Seth Rogen and Snoop Dogg Tweet Support of Colorado's Marijuana Legalization

Rocky Mountain High indeed. In the wake of Colorado voters legalizing
the recreational use of marijuana on Election Day, several famous
folks have taken to Twitter to express their joy over the measure
getting passed.

"@9NEWS: Colorado becomes the first state in the country to legalize
marijuana. #Amendment64" #catchup," tweeted Rihanna.

And not surprising, Snoop Dogg and Seth Rogen, two guys whose names
are practically synonymous with the stuff, also couldn't contain their
excitement. "Shout out to Colorado," the rapper tweeted, while Rogen
actually took it once step further and wrote,

"I'm moving to Colorado." Of course, these three will be happy to know
that Colorado isn't the only place they can light up.

The state of Washington saw a similar measure get approved on Tuesday
as well. Although we're guessing they're probably already aware of
that by now.

MAN MARRIES SISTER-IN-LAW BEFORE HIS WIFE LYING DEAD IN HOSPITAL

A man in Bihar, India married his sister-in-law in the presence of the
dead body of his wife who lay in a postmortem room of a government
hospital after hanging herself from a ceiling fan on Wednesday.

Local media on Thursday reported that the incident took place at
Biharsharif town in Nalanda district of Bihar, 80km south of Patna,
capital of Bihar state.

According to reports, Pushpa Kumari, wife of Sujit Kumar from
Parasdiha village in the central Bihar's Nalanda district, committed
suicide at her in-laws' house on Wednesday.

Her body was then brought for postmortem at the local government hospital.

News of her death reached the victim's parents, who rushed to the
hospital and threatened to register a murder case against the in-laws
accusing them of forcing the girl to end her life.

The victim's parents reportedly then asked the in-law's family to
allow the widower to marry the victim's younger sister Rashmirathi,
which Sujit's family agreed to.

The story took a dramatic turn when the girl's parents asked the boy
to marry his sister-in-law then and there at the hospital.

Soon a packet of vermilion was brought from the market as the boy
married his sister-in-law by applying vermilion on her hair as the
dead body of his wife lay at the postmortem room of the hospital
apparently as a witness. [GN]

Fathia Balogun and Fuji star musician, Sulaimon “Malaika” Alao Adekunle are in hot romance

The news of entertainment personalities getting involved in a love
relationship shouldn't come as a surprise to people around the world
especially in our showbiz environment.

Many showbiz players have dated to the extent of signing life
contract. However, the new news that just filtered in from the
grapevine that star actress, Fathia Balogun and Fuji star musician,
Sulaimon "Malaika" Alao Adekunle are in hot romance is gradually
generating a lot of heat especially from close friends who are aware
of the union.

We authoritatively gathered that the two gifted showbiz personalities
are sailing together on a love boat at the moment.

Their romance is waxing stronger by the day although our sources
maintained that both Malaika and Fathia have been friends for many
years, however they moved to the next level by singing love tunes to
each other's ears.

Many could not come to terms with the romance because it is a known
fact that before now, the fuji artiste was in a love relationship with
Fathia's younger colleague, Sikiratu
Sindodo.

The love affair between Malaika and Sindodo weathered a storm not too
long ago when the latter took ill that almost terminated her life.

After she survived the illness with Malaika standing firm by her side
through the ordeal, they renewed the love affair and many thought it
would last forever- at least for now.

But before anyone knew what was happening, the good-looking fuji star
decided to embark on a love journey with the pretty ex-wife of Saidi
Balogun.

It was also gathered that both Malaika and Fathia have been friends
while Saidi Balogun was her husband but since Fathia's marriage
crashed, she has been searching for a
companion.

We gathered that Alao Malaika has been her confidant and adviser.
Besides, their relationship is very cordial as we learnt.

As a result of the relationship, Fathia Balogun has linked the Fuji
Music star with some shows in Ikorodu, where the actress resides. In
fact, it was learnt that Fathia Balogun invited Malaika to perform at
her son's birthday last month which was held in Ikorodu.

Though, the pretty actress has not said anything in the press since
the rumour started but Malaika has opened up that Fathia Balogun has
been her friend since she was dating Saidi Balogun.

"Well, Fathia Balogun has been my friend since. She is my friend till
now, Malaika said. Meanwhile, since Saidi and Fathia parted ways years
back, many moves have been made to reconcile them but all have proved
abortive.

Fathia has been linked with Corporate Pictures boss after she
separated from Saidi Balogun.

She has also been under pressure to settle down with a man which we
learnt has been the objective to hook up with the Fuji Star, Alayeluwa
Malaika.

Nevertheless, Malaika's romance with actress, Sikiratu Sindodo has
been on for almost five years now. And, he has not also denied it in
the press. We gathered that Fathia Balogun's new movie she is working
on currently would feature the Fuji Musician, sources said.

WHY ELDEE'S TRYBES RECORDS FIRED EVA ALORDIAH OVER EXCESSIVE DISAGREEMENTS

Like a celebrated victory, fast-rising female rapper, Eva Alordiah and
her ex-boss at Trybes Records, Eldee Da Don made their happiness known
publicly when the announcement of the signing was made on Twitter.

But barely five months later, the story has changed as things have
fallen apart because the centre could not hold anymore.
Some hours ago, the label, through a statement, announced the
termination of the contract between Eva and Trybes Records. Part of
the statement reads,

"Trybes Records and Eva Alordiah have agreed to terminate her
recording contract effective immediately.

"Trybes Records' vision is to discover and nurture the talents of our
artists while operating with purpose, valuing relationships with our
partners within the industry, and being persistent in creating and
releasing quality music.

"Unfortunately, over the past 5 months, Eva's vision has not aligned
with ours and thus, both parties have agreed to separate.

"We wish Eva the best in her future endeavours and plan on continuing
towards our goal of creating quality music for Nigeria and beyond."

According to what Nigeriafilms.com gathered, the major reason both
parties may have disagreed may be due to an alleged prolonged
disagreement between Eva and Trybes Records. Information reaching us
puts it that Eva has allegedly been too demanding while not meeting up
with her expectations by delivery quality works for the label.

We then further learnt that these became a big headache for the label
especially Eldee, who was said to have seen Eva as an artiste trying
to frustrate him, so, the decision to let her go her way in peace.

Nigeriafilms.com scooped that these disagreements started almost after
she put pen to papers with the label. Before parting ways with Trybes
Records, Eva didn't release any song or video under the label.

PHOTO: GIRL DRUGGED AND RAPED BY MAN SHE MET ON FACEBOOK

We published a story yesterday about how a student of the University
of Lagos narrowly escaped being raped by a man she met on Facebook,
she had to jump down a three storey building. You can read that story
HERE.

Now we have received a report that a similar incident has happened in
Kenya, only this time the man was successful in his act.

According to Daily Post Kenya:

The girl claims she met the man on Facebook and both arranged for a
friendly date after one month of lovey dovey inbox messages.

The man picked her up in a Range rover car and drove to upmarket
westlands for a drink. She decided to have red bull since that was
their first time of meeting and didn't want to leave a bad impression.

During their date, she excused herself and went to the loo, that was
when the man drugged the red bull she was drinking.

The girl only remembers being drowsy and someone dragging her to the
car. She was half awake but still weak when the man together with
other assailants raped her repeatedly. She lost count of the number of
times she was raped.

She only came back to her senses when good samaritans found her in
Umoja 2, Kenya in a very bad state.

The girl said her vagina was sore and couldn't walk properly.

She warns females to be very careful about the male friends they meet
on Facebook as not all of them have good intentions.

“We still have a very long journey ahead” – Wande Coal denies plan to set up record label

Sweet-voiced Wande Coal, is not leaving Mavins Records. The singer

week, claiming that he was about to set up
his own record label.

"There have been no such plans, and I wish to remain in Mavin

Mavin's offical website.

"Mavin Records is my family and will always remain so. I want to thank
all my fans for continuing to support me. We still have a very long
journey ahead."

This is not the first time such stories have arisen. And at that
time, Wande Coal, released a single 'Been long you saw me',
specifically to address them. The artiste joined the defunct MoHits

HOME TICKER MOTHER NAMES HER TWINS BARACK OBAMA AND MITT ROMNEY

A Kenyan mother has named her new-born twins after US President Barack
Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney, the BBC reports.

Millicent Owuor, 20, gave birth to the twins in south-west Kenya on
the day Obama was re- elected.

A short distance from the hospital, at the Obama family's ancestral
village, people were celebrating his victory.

"I named the first twin Barack and the second one Mitt," Owuor was
quoted by Reuters as saying.

Owuor posed for photographers on Wednesday at the Siaya District
Hospital with her twin boys.

She said she had named her twins after the winning and losing US
presidential candidates in order to remember the day of the vote,
Kenya's Standard newspaper reports.

The US president's father was born in Kenya and his step-grandmother,
Sarah Obama, still lives in the village of Kogelo.

The residents of Kogelo sang and danced after Obama was declared the
winner. "The reason why he has won is because God has given it to
him," said Sarah Obama, who turns 90 this year.

"Secondly, he has got the knowledge to love all people, he doesn't
have the knowledge of division, that is why he has won." Barack Obama
senior died in a road accident in
Kenya in 1982.

It is a story of a woman who will take on men and much more for her

her husband's sudden death but this is just the beginning as she is
faced with a bigger fight. The truth stops where tradition and custom

its community service via the first screening in Abiriba.

DINO MELAYE HAS NO HONOUR OR COMMON DECENCY – NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA

Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance Dr Mrs
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is definitely one of those who are presently not
happy with former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Dino
Melaye.

However, this time around, it has nothing to do with the impregnation
of any Yoruba movie actress or maybe so.

Following a protest by demonstrators at the Federal Ministry of
Finance, calling for the resignation of Okonjo-Iweala, the office of
the minister, through her Senior Special Assistant, Paul C Nwabuikwu,
has released a press statement lambasting Dino Melaye whom, it
believed, is responsible for the protest.

The release reads in part:

"Earlier today, a disreputable former member of the House of
Representatives, Mr Dino Melaye brought a handful of demonstrators to
the Federal Ministry of Finance who conducted themselves in an unruly
manner…

We have it on good authority that Mr Melaye's group was sponsored by
some of the indicted oil barons who are currently being investigated
and prosecuted for subsidy fraud.

Their allegation to wrong subsidy payments made by the Ministry is a
mere ruse to conceal their true motives.

"The Melaye demonstration was ostensibly to call for the resignation
of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance
who is well known for fighting the fraudulent oil barons whose names
were published by the Federal Ministry of Finance for various breaches
of the subsidy regime…

Nigerians are, of course, not deceived by the antics of Mr Melaye who
has no known pedigree as a civil society activist or even a reputation
for honour or common decency."

CHELSEA BAN RACIST FAN

Gavin Kirkham was arrested on Monday after being identified on social
networking websites following the game last Wednesday, and he was held
on suspicion of a racially aggravated Section 4a Public Order Act
offense before being bailed until Nov. 29.

Chelsea were keen to stress that the 28-year-old Kirkham holds no
membership with the club.

"Chelsea Football Club has banned a 28-year-old man from Stamford
Bridge pending the conclusion of a police investigation into a
possible racially aggravated public order offense," a Chelsea
spokesman said.

"The man is not a current Chelsea FC season ticket-holder or member.
Chelsea is co-operating fully with the police as they carry out their
investigation."

The man was arrested on Monday after attending a West London police
station by appointment

21 YEAR OLD UNILAG STUDENT “JUMPS FROM THIRD FLOOR OF 1004″ TO ESCAPE RAPE BY FACEBOOK FRIEND

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is reporting that a 21 Year Old
University of Lagos student was "allegedly pushed down from the third
floor of the multi-storey building in Lagos, following a disagreement
with a man she met on the social network, Facebook" while the CSP
Fayoade Adegoke, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bar Beach,
Victoria Island where the incident was reported, confirms that in the
official police report, the victim alleges that she jumped from the
third floor to escape being raped.

The victim "sustained multiple injuries, including a pelvis fracture,
and was undergoing surgery at the General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, on
Tuesday."

The UNILAG  linguistics student was named in the news report but BN
has chosen not to republish her name.

Here is an excerpt of her story from the NAN Report;

"She met the young man through the social media, barely a week before
the Nov. 1 incident.

She told NAN that the 26-year-old man (names withheld) last Wednesday
invited her to a night club in Apapa from where they ended up in his
family home at 1004 Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

She noted that the young man had earlier talked about sex on phone
prior to the outing but she told him she was menstruating.

The victim said that on getting to the house, the man tore her dress
and tried to rape her.

According to the victim, the man thereafter pushed her down from the
third floor of the building because she refused to have sex with him.

When contacted, the mother of the young man, who was at home on the
night of the incident, however, told NAN that she was not aware of
what happened, saying that she slept around 10 p.m., wile the
disageement between the couple started much later.

The mother, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that she paid part of the
hospital bill immediately after the victim was admitted, and even
tried to transfer her to a private hospital.
"I took her as our own daughter and so, I can do anything that will
make her recover quickly," she added.

She insisted that her preliminary inquiry indicated that victim was
not pushed by her son as alleged, but that she jumped on her own in
the ensuing scuffle.

When contacted, CSP Fayoade Adegoke, the Divisional Police Officer
(DPO) of Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, told NAN that the victim
wrote in her statement to the police that she jumped on her own, in
order to escape being raped.

Adegoke said that he ordered his men to convey the victim to the
hospital immediately after he was informed of the incident by night
security guards in the area.

The DPO said that the suspect was released on bail, pending further
investigation into the matter."

There are several disturbing questions and issues that are raised by
this incident and news story.

Why is the victim named and the accused's name is withheld? Why does
the accused's mother have access to the victim?

The victim has released contradictory statements – she reported that
she jumped to escape to the Police and that she was pushed to the
press whether the victim jumped or was pushed off the building, it
illustrates the severity of the crime.

The crime allegedly occurred in the accused's parents' house while
they were home! What does this say about our value system?

In February 2012, Susan Yusuf of SuzyQ was murdered and her killer
jumped to his death in 1004, a disturbing pattern seems to be emerging
from the popular condomium complex.

Absolutely noone deserves to be raped, even if sex was discussed on
the phone and a nightclub was visited.

After, the tragic Cynthia Osokogu, we advise young women and men to be
wise about who they interract with online and how they transition
those relationships into the real world.

UNIPORT RE-OPENS FOR ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The university was shut down on October 9 following protest by
students over the murder of their colleagues at Omuokiri village,
Aluu, one of the host communities of the institution.

A statement by the Deputy Registrar, Information of the University,
Dr. Williams Wodi, said the senate of the school took the decision to
re-open the institution at a meeting held last night.

He said the authorities were satisfied that peace had returned to the
neighbouring communities and that the security of staff and students
were guaranteed.

"I can confirm to you that the Senate met in an Emergency meeting on
Wednesday (yesterday) and directed that the University be reopened
immediately for resumption of normal academic activities.

"All students have been directed to return to the Campus on between
now and the weekend, while lectures will commence on Monday. The
resumption was sequel to the return of peace to the University's
neighbourhood, especially Omuokiri, in Aluu.

"The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ajienka, has met with the
landlords who have guaranteed the safety of students and staff," he
said.

The university was shut down when the National Association of Nigerian
Students (NANS) led a students protest against the murder of four
students of the university at Omuokiri village, Aluu on October 5.

The killings of the students generated national and international
interest as the video clips of the murder were broadcast in the social
media.
