Olusegun Obasanjo denied Death Rumours, Shun Jonathan Rift

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo at the weekend dispelled
rumours about his death, saying, "I am still alive". He made the
denial when he met with the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji
Bamanga Tukur in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo expressed worry why people should spread death rumour about
him. He said that keeping quiet on issues of national importance was
not the best option for him because of his love for Nigeria.

"Because, if there is no Nigeria, there will not be a party and if
there is no party, there will be nothing to govern on the platform of
the party. "If there is anything that requires my own comment,
position or views I will say it.

"It is my passion, patriotism and love that will continue to make me
say my own. If I see something that is inimical to the growth of the
party, I will talk," he said. Obasanjo expressed his delight over
Tukur's visit, describing the PDP chieftain a respected leader.

"It is always a delight to have our oga visit us to see what we are
doing and what we are not doing. "To know our anxiety, aspirations and
concerns. And also to disabuse the minds of the rumour mongers. The
President is my President. Those who want me and the chair to quarrel;
this visit will keep them quiet.

"Without Nigeria there will be no party even when I was in prison I
was not quiet," he said. Tukur said that the main purpose of his visit
was to appreciate the former PDP Board of Trustees chairman for his
persistent and consistent role not only for the party but for the
country and the international community.

"Your support has never been relenting and I have come to say" thank
you sir," he said. Tukur, however, affirmed the leadership of the Dipo
Odujirin-led executive in the state, declaring that the party only
recognised the elected executive.

"Whoever the people have elected as far as I am concerned, is the
chairman of our party in Ogun," he said. Senator Odujinrin and 28
others were elected as members of the state Executive Committee in
August 2012 and the election was supervised by the national body of
the party.

But Odujinrin's chairmanship was opposed by a faction of the party who
claimed a court ruling was in their favour. Tukur said : "there is no
crisis here in Ogun PDP at all.
"I have come here because of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who
is the leader of our party and I'm now the chairman.

"We do this with the leaders of our party throughout the country and
my own programme is about reconciliation, reformation and rebuilding.
"I have been going round to the leaders and stakeholders of our party.
So I can assure you that there is nothing about crisis here.

"Secondly, about discipline in our party; if you listen to what I said
in Akwa Ibom, first of all, our own principle today is rebuilding our
party based on equity and justice, no imposition so that everybody
will feel to be part of that great party.

"It is only when you give people the leadership they did not elect
that is when you then start to get crisis. "As long as you build on
harmony, consultation and consensus you will see that the party will
be less or at almost zero conflict," he added. (NAN)

Enebeli Elebuwa’s death: :Nollywood stars are hypocrites” – Stella Damascus

Stella Damascus has attacked her fellow Nollywood actors/actresses,
calling them pretenders, as more facts surrounding Enebeli Elebuwa's
illness and eventual death, begins to emerge.

Elebuwa had suffered stroke and spent some time in the country, before
he was flown to India for further treatment. Damascus accused her
colleagues of being pretenders, claiming they did not do enough.
According to her, they were more interested in what they could get.

"I'm very angry because the people in my industry are hypocrites," she
said. "That man was ill for a long time in lagos and they turned it
into a fanfare. People would go and visit him and take pictures with
him, post it on twitter, on Facebook, on their blogs; they used it to
make people feel that they are philanthropists but nobody lifted a
finger to take care of him or help his family.

"They are more interested in politics; who would be president, how
they can visit dignitaries, who would dash them money. Nobody cares
about the elderly people in the industry. We know how to celebrate
people when they die, but when they are alive, what do we do for them,
especially the sick ones? "The Delta state government eventually
sponsored him to India. I'm just very pained." she said ....

STYL -PLUS Has Finally Split (Breakup)

Information reaching y!online suggests that soul crooners, Styl Plus,
have finally split.

The R&B group, which comprised of Shiffi, Zeal and Tunde, have
struggled to recapture the success they achieved with their debut
album, which had tracks like 'Run away', 'Olufunmi', etc. Their second
album 'Unbreakable' was a big flop and their new singles did not get
any attention.

Perhaps tired of the slide, Tunde has decided to go solo, re-branding
himself as 'NativeBoy'. We also gathered that he has recorded several
songs alone and set up his own record label, called B.A.T Records.
Details soon !!!!!!

Morgan Freeman Blames Media for Recent Shootings? Not So Fast...

Many people--including celebrities--have spoken out on the horrific
tragedy that struck Newtown, Conn., on Friday, when a 20-year-old
gunman opened fire and killed at least 26 people, including 20
children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School. However, Morgan Freeman is
not one of those people. The actor has not released a comment on the
incident that took place a few days ago, despite numerous stories
reporting otherwise. The lengthy quote attributed to Morgan is indeed
an hoax. "Morgan neither made statements or posted those statements.

We are trying to find out who did, but they did not originate from
him," the actor's rep tells E! News. So what did the Oscar winner
allegedly say? The remark floating around online that was said to be
from Freeman stated the following, "You want to know why. This may
sound cynical, but here's why. It's because of the way the media
reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater
shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold
and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a
single victim of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just
off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by
doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way.

Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a
horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody." The falsely-attributed
quote continued, "CNN's article says that if the body count 'holds
up,' this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia
Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another.
Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details
of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox
News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours.
Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore
the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't
sell.

So congratulations , sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire
for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity
ward next. You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name,
and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by
donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control
as the problem."

One Direction, Rihanna, Adele lead Billboard 2012 charts

Newcomer British boy band One Direction joined R&B diva Rihanna and
British singer Adele to top Billboard's year-end music charts,
released on Friday culled from Reuters.

www.yonlineng.com gathered that One Direction, who topped the
Billboard 200 album chart twice this year with their debut, "Up All
Night" in March and their sophomore album "Take Me Home" in November,
were named Billboard's top new artist/group, rounding off a stellar
year of U.S. success for the band.

Adele, 24, who became the first woman top score No. 1 single, album
and artist on Billboard's 2011 year-end charts, continued her reign in
2012, when her Grammy-winning record "21" was the top-selling album in
the U.S. and she was once again named artist of the year.

"21" has sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. since its
release in February 2011, becoming a fixture on the Billboard 200,
especially after Adele's six wins at the Grammy Awards earlier this
year.

She is the only act to be named both top artist and have the top album
in Billboard's charts for two years in a row.

Adele was also named the No. 1 female artist while R&B rapper-singer
Drake was named No. 1 male artist and pop-rock band Maroon 5 were
named No. 1 group.

Rihanna, also 24, was named the top Hot 100 artist after a year of
chart-topping hit singles such as "We Found Love" and "Diamonds" on
the Hot 100 chart, which measures top-selling singles each week.

But Australia's Gotye picked up the Hot 100 single of the year, with
his heartbreak hit "Somebody That I Used To Know."

Billboard compile their end-of-year lists based on chart performances
between December 3 2011 and November 24 2012, tallying data including
album sales and streaming figures.
