Popular comedian, AY, apologises for tweet on wife’s car gift

Popular comedian, Ayo Makun aka AY, has apologised for tweeting about
the car gift he gave his wife recently. AY had on Monday tweeted a
message to his wife, Mabel, saying he bought her an Acura ZDX car
worth N10 million as a Christmas gift. "Wifey this is my
anniversary/Xmas gift to U, 4 being a friend, Sister, wife& Mother. I
love u," he wrote.

He also attached two shots of the car and his wife to the tweet. The
tweet did not apparently go down well with some of his followers, who
perceived it as a "show-off." On Tuesday, he responded thus, "Sorry 4

“I paid for the house” – AY clears the air on the duplex he and 2face will share in Lekki

Barely 24 hours after images of a twin duplex under construction in
Lekki Phase 1, where AY Makun and 2face Idibia will become neighbours
emerged, the comedian has come out to clear the air about some
misconceptions. AY has insisted that he paid for the house and it is
not part of an ambassadorship deal he has with Haven Homes.

"I did an advert for the company as one of their ambassadors and I was
duly paid. I wasn't given the house free. Who does that in Nigeria?"
he asked in a chat with the NET. "Even big international organisations
don't give as much for their ambassadors. I chose to buy the house
because I realised that the company truly has the interest of its
clients at heart and 2face decided to join me." AY refused to reveal
the cost of the house, but it is believed it could cost up to N70
million, by the time it is completed

How D’Banj and K-Switch snubbed Don Jazzy at Rhythm Unplugged

To a lot of industry observers, the feud between former friends and
business partners, Don Jazzy and D'Banj, is far from settled. A few
weeks back, as soon as the Mavin producer, announced he would be
opening his PoP Nightclub the next week, D'Banj came on Twitter and
announced his own hangout would open that same day. Two days back at
the Rhythm Unplugged Concert, a lot of the artistes who took to the
stage to perform, at one point or the other hailed Don Jazzy, who sat
in the V.I.P section of the crowd. However, when the Kokomaster and
his younger brother, K-Switch took to the stage, they completely
ignored the beat maker, till the end of their performance, a move
which was set the rumour mills into overdrive again.

No be me gossip hamm ooooo nah gossip I hear oooo , would like
kokomaster to answer the allegations anyway ...

George H.W. Bush, 88, spends Christmas in the hospital as he continues to struggle with cough and weakness

Former President George H.W. Bush will spend Christmas with his wife
andother family members in a Houston hospital after developing a fever
and weakness following a monthlong, bronchitis-like cough, his
spokesman said Monday. A hospital spokesman had said the 88-year-old
ex-president would be released in time to spend the holiday at home,
but that changed after Bush developed a fever.

'He's had a few setbacks. Late last week, he had a few low-energy days
followed by a low-grade fever,' Jim McGrath, Bush's spokesman in
Houston, told The Associated Press. 'Doctors still say they are
cautiously optimistic, but every time they get over one thing, another
thing pops up.' He said the cough that initially brought Bush to the
hospital on November 23 is now evident only about once a day, and the
fever appears to be under control, although doctors are still working
to get the right balance in Bush's medications. No discharge date has
been set. 'Given his current condition, doctors just want to hang on
to him,' McGrath said, adding that he didn't know what had caused the
fever.

DAMISI LUKA,

As Nigerians mark this year's Yuletide, the Northern States Governors
Forum (NSGF), has urged Christian faithfuls in the country to use the
Christmas season to pray for peace and unity in the country. The
counsel was made in a Christmas message signed by the Chief Press
Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Danladi Ndayebo. The
statement which was released to journalists in Minna on Monday, said
Governor Dr Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu, who is also the Chairman of the
forum, congratulated Christians on the commemoration of the birth of
Jesus Christ and also asked them to beseech God for an end to the
security challenges facing the country.

Aliyu noted that "There is no better time to preach and internalize
Jesus Christ's mission on earth than at this period of increasing
intolerance in the country." He said the country had witnessed "too
many losses of lives of innocent people and property, a situation that
does not augur well for the peace and progress of the country." The
forum called on aggrieved individuals and groups to do away with
violence and express their plight through the appropriate channels.
