Lionel Messi turned down £205million move to Russian club

An unnamed Russian club triggered Lionel Messi's automatic release
clause with a staggering €250m (£205m) bid for the Barcelona star, a
report claims. Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo reports that
the club agreed to pay more than double the world record transfer fee,
and offered the Argentine a €30m (£24.6m) annual pay packet after tax.
Once that sum was offered Barcelona were contractually obliged to
accept it –but from that point it was up to the player whether he was
interested in leaving the club. The bid came during Messi's recent
contract negotiations with Barcelona. However, the 25-year-old
rejected the move and signed a two-year extension with Barça that ties
him to the Camp Nou until 2018. Although the club was not named it is
likely to have been Anzhi Makachkala, who are owned by billionaire
Suleyman Kerimov.


In 2011 Anzhi signed former Barça striker Samuel Eto'o, making him the
highest-paid player in world football. El Mundo Deportivo said Messi
rejected the Russian move because of his desire to continue winning
titles at Barcelona. He scored a record 91 goals in 2012 and is
expected to win his fourth consecutive Ballon d'Or. Neither is Messi
short of cash – in March it was revealed he earns £27m per year,
topping up his £13m salary with sponsorships and endorsements. Every
player in Spanish football must have a minimum fee release clause in
their contract. Cristiano Ronaldo's is the highest, standing at €1bn
(£800m)

Whitney Houston was murdered by drug dealers and a new surveillance
videoproves it, a Hollywood private investigator is claiming Paul
Huebl says he has turned over evidence to the FBI that shows the
48-year-old singer was killed over a drug debt in February. The
medical examiner ruled that she drowned in her bathtub at the Beverley
Hilton hotel after taking a cocktail of cocaine, marijuana and several
legal drugs.The National Enquirer is reporting that Huebl discovered
the plot to kill the troubled star by several 'high powered drug
dealers who sent thugs to collect a huge debt she owed for drugs. She
owed $1.5million to dealers, according to some reports. He says that
she received a delivery of cocaine to her room the day before herdeath
and could be heard saying 'I'm tired of this sh*t.' He says the star
had previously been subjected to harassment dealers trying to collect
on her debtHuebl says he ha obtained surveillance video that shows two
unknown men who repeatedly went to the Beverly Hilton and integrated
themselves into Houston's entourage.


The private investigator claims these are the men who slipped into
Houston'shotel room and killed her. He also disagrees with the Los
Angeles County Coroner's ruling that the star's death was 'accidental.
'Whitney's body shows classic defense wounds that would have occurred
while she was battling for her life,' he told the Enquirer. The
private investigator said he also has evidence that Houston's hotel
room was ransacked, showing further hints of a violent struggle. Huebl
told the Enquirer that he had given his evidence to the Chicago field
office of the FBI in the hopes that the agency will open a criminal
investigation.
