Features: A Brazilian student is auctioning off her virginity to the
highest bidder to raise cash to build homes for poverty-stricken
families.
Catarina Migliorini, 20, is set to plough the money – currently
standing at $155,000 (£95,400) – into a non-governmental organisation
which will construct modern houses in her southern Brazilian home
state of Santa Catarina.
Rejecting claims she is a prostitute, she said she still believed in
love but saw the opportunity to make a positive difference to the
world.
But the physical education student has sparked controversy because she
will be followed every step of the way by an Australian film crew for
a documentary film called Virgins Wanted.
She said: 'I saw this as a business. I have the opportunity to travel,
to be part of a movie and get a bonus with it.
'If you only do it once in your life then you are not a prostitute,
just like if you take one amazing photograph it does not automatically
make you a photographer.
'The auction is just business, I'm a romantic girl at heart and
believe in love. But this will make a big difference to my area,' she
told Folha newspaper.
Catarina, who is of Italian descent, signed up to the project two
years ago when she saw an advert by Thomas William Productions looking
for a virgin to film.
Director Justin Sisely will record her emotions before and after her
first sexual encounter. A male virgin called Alexander is also being
followed.
She will receive $20,000 and 90 per cent of the final auction sale
price, which ends on October 15.
The winner will be tested for sexually transmitted diseases prior to
the encounter which will take place on an aeroplane, leaving from
Australia to the US, in a bid to circumvent prostitution laws.
A condom will be compulsory, with Catarina saying she was prepared to
prove to any sceptics that she has not had sex before.

DATING PREZZO IS A SOAP OPERA THAT WILL NEVER COME – GOLDIE
on't know why she waited this long to speak out thereby allowing the
rumor to fester, grow wings and develop a life of its own. The press
fed on news of Goldie's reconciliation with her Kenyan rapper BBA
Stargame Housemate, Prezzo and even dubbed them the African version of
Jay-Z and Beyonce?
The Singer Has Declared She Is Not Dating The Kenyan Rapper Calling It
A 'Soap Opera That Will Never Come'
There was even speculation they were together holidaying in the US and
don't blame us yet, the signs were too strong to ignore that they were
dating – she was in Kenya shortly after his visit to Nigeria, they
reportedly hanged out together while she was in the East African
country and the Kenyan press even quoted her as saying she might
consider settling there in the future, then the most visible sign,
they both posted at different times, photo of themselves wearing a
similar shirt with the same inscription on it. What else could we have
needed to add 1+1=2?
Despite all the insinuations and furore generated by their alleged
romance, Goldie has emphatically declared, "I am not dating Prezzo.
The state of things between us is the same state of things between me
and anyone in Big Brother.
"We are all friends. I didn't go to Kenya to see him. I went there for
an event. People are just assuming there's something going on between
us because we are not speaking. Well, everybody is just working for
the soap opera that will never come."

EID EL KABIR: STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT JONATHAN TO MUSLIMS
STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN
EID-EL-KABIR MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS FROM GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, GCFR,
PRESIDENT, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE FEDERAL
REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
My Dear Compatriots,
1. I extend warm greetings and felicitations to you all as we
celebrate this year's Eid-el-Kabir festival.
2. I also congratulate all Nigerians who successfully undertook the
Hajj this year despite the unforeseen difficulties which developed
over the issue of male companions for some of our female pilgrims.
3. Although the problem was eventually resolved with the positive
intervention of the Federal Government, I have ordered a thorough post
mortem of the incident with a view to ensuring that our Hajj airlift
operations are never disrupted by such problems in future and that no
Nigerian pilgrim is ever subjected to such traumatic experience in the
Holy Land again.
4. Nigerians remain a people of great faith with the vast majority of
our people professing belief in God either as Muslims or Christians.
5. I believe therefore that we should all seize the opportunity of the
Sallah season and the public holidays to reflect on how we can bring
the ideals and virtues of our religious beliefs to bear on the
positive resolution of the many challenges facing us as a nation.
6. There can be no doubt that we will make faster progress towards the
attainment of developmental objectives as a nation if we all resolve
to do more to live up to the highest ideals of our religious beliefs
including the fear of God, willingness to make personal sacrifices for
the collective good, selfless service, respect for laws and
constituted authorities, honesty, justice, equity, fairness,
dutifulness, peace and harmonious co-existence with others.
7. My administration will continue to give dedicated, committed,
focused and purposeful leadership towards overcoming old and emerging
challenges before the nation.
8. While our doors remain open for constructive engagement and
dialogue with all Nigerians, we shall continue to aggressively
implement all measures deemed necessary for the restoration and
maintenance of peace in all parts of the country.
9. As we celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir, let us all remember the plight of
the many thousands of our compatriots who have been displaced by the
floods which recently devastated many communities across the nation
and resolve to contribute whatever we can to ameliorate their
suffering.
10. I have already announced a relief package of close to N18 billion
and constituted a national committee to raise more funds to help
victims of the floods.
11. In the true spirit of our major religions which enjoin us to be
generous to the needy, I urge all Nigerians who can do so, to donate
munificently to the national relief fund for affected persons and
communities.
12. We will monitor the disbursement and utilization of the funds
released by the Federal Government and those raised by the National
Committee very closely to ensure that they are judiciously and
expeditiously expended for the benefit of the flood victims.
13. May God bless and reward all who help the flood victims.
14. I wish all Nigerians who undertook the Hajj a safe journey back home.
15. Happy Sallah to all Nigerians.

‘DROP YOUR CASE AND TEAM UP WITH IBINABO’ KATE HENSHAW TELLS EMEKA IKE
Kate Henshaw
Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has expressed displeasure at the many
controversies surrounding the victory of Ibinabo Fiberisima in the
just concluded elections of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
She mentioned this in a recent interview with NET, where she advised
that Emeka Ike bury his sentiments and accept the result as valid.
According to her, this is important for the growth of the association,
'Emeka should join forces with I.B and stop all this rancour because
it doesn't make us serious at all, which is unnecessary. He should
drop whatever suit or case he has, marry his plans and support IB.
Enough is enough'
Speaking further on the victory, Henshaw expressed high hopes in the
newly elected excos, adding that AGN as the biggest body in movie
industry, deserves a focused leader, a position she hopes Fiberisima
will live up to, 'Hopefully, I.B (Ibinabo Fiberisima) will turn things
around for AGN. We are like the biggest body ever, so I am praying she
can turn things around and make us more unified, because the division
is what has caused us to not to be where we ought to be'
Henshaw, 41, made her movie debut in 1993 in the movie When the Sun
Sets and has since featured in various movies including Stronger Than
Pain which got her AMAA award as best actress in 2008.

REVEALED: WHY FEMI KUTI SHUNNED THE HEADIES
Those who attended The Headies 2012 awards show on Saturday October
20, were surprised when the show ended without musician Femi Kuti
gracing the stage.
It had been highly publicized that the respected Afrobeat
singer-saxophonist was to perform at the prestigious awards show -his
first ever. He was also to be inducted into the well respected 'Hall
of Fame'.
But Femi never showed up, rather he stayed behind at the New Afrika
Shrine where the recently concluded Felabration 2012 was going onNET
placed a call to Yeni Kuti, Femi's elder sister who didn't divulge
much information other than there was a 'slight misunderstanding'.
But an inside source close to the Kuti family tells us it was more
than a misunderstanding, allegedly having to do with the failure of
the awards organizers and Kuti's managers to reconcile last minute
differences.
'They were meant to pay Shoki shoki (Femi) some balance for logistics
but as at Saturday evening we hadn't received the money, so he stayed
back at the Shrine for Felabration', a reliable source told us in
anonymity. We could not immediately confirm this.
The Headies does not pay musicians for performances, and this is the
first time a Hall of Fame inductee will stay away from the glamorous
event.
No word yet from the organizers about why Femi was absent.

DON’T EXECUTE THOSE PRISONERS, EU APPEALS TO OSHIOMOLE
The European Union (EU) has appealed to Governor of Edo State, Adams
Oshiomhole to shelve his plan to execute two prison inmates in his
state.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Local EU in Nigeria on imminent
executions in Edo State, the union asked Oshiomhole to halt the
execution of these two inmates pending the determination of appeals
they filed against the trial court judgement.
"The EU Delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria is deeply
concerned about the information it has received concerning the
reported imminent execution of two persons in Edo State.
"The EU Delegation calls on the Nigerian authorities and, in this
case, the Governor of Edo State, to allow all legal appeals to be
heard and to halt the execution of these two inmates. The EU
Delegation urges the Nigerian authorities to respect the existing de
facto moratorium on executions, in place since 2006."
It considers that such execution, if carried out, would represent a
serious setback in Nigeria's reputation and records in the field of
human rights.
The European Union Delegation to Nigeria said that they were conveying
the message in agreement with the EU Heads of Mission in Nigeria. The
Embassy of Norway associates itself with this statement.

Zidane statue causes controversy
Officials in Paris want to see the newly erected statue of Zinedine
Zidane's infamous headbutt on Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup
final taken down.
The five-meter tall bronze figure stands outside the Pompidou Arts
Centre in Paris and is known to have angered French football
bureaucrats who feel that it sends out an unprofessional image of
their legendary former captain.
In an open letter to Zidane, administrators wrote: "By choosing this
provocative image, the artist has deliberately opted to ignore all
your talents and all the positive emotions that you were able to share
with the people of our country."
It stands "in contrary to sporting ethics and values carried and
transmitted by the hundreds of thousands of educators who invest all
over our country for young practitioner."
Instead, they believe a sculpture representing Zidane's two headed
goals against Brazil in the 1998 World Cup triumph would be more
appropriate.
Whether Zizou himself will support the removal. of the efigy remains
to be seen, but president of the Pompidou Arts Centre, Alain Seban, is
"shocked" by the appeals.
"This is more or less a call for censorship," he said.
Zidane claimed to have been racially provoked by the Italian defender
in the build-up up to his headbutt though was duly fined and made to
do community service for FIFA.

PARENTS IN SHOCK AS ‘DEAD’ SON SITS UP, ASKS FOR WATER AT OWN FUNERAL, DIES AGAIN
Strange news emanating from the South American country of Brazil these
days just leaves one wondering – Is Brazil the weird capital of the
world? Not really, but read this:
Kelvin Santos was being treated for pneumonia at a local hospital in
Brazil when he stopped breathing. Doctors declared the boy dead and
sent his body home with his parents, so they could hold services.
Kelvin's body was put in an open coffin in the middle of the family
home.
The next day, Kelvin reportedly sat up and asked, "Daddy, can I have
some water?" which amazed all those in the home. This was only one
hour before the funeral was to take place.
"Everybody started to scream," his father, Antonio Santos said. "We
couldn't believe our eyes. Then we thought a miracle had taken place
and our boy had come back to life."
Unfortunately, the family's "miracle" did not last very long, Santos explained.
"Kelvin just laid back down, the way he was. We couldn't wake him. He
was dead again," he said.
Antonio immediately took his boy back to the hospital where he was
again pronounced dead.
"They assured me that he really was dead and gave me no explanation
for what we had just seen and heard," said the father.
Kelvin's body was taken back to the home and, after waiting for some
time to see if he would awake, he was laid to rest. Antonio believes
that Kelvin could have been saved had the hospital done more when he
brought the boy back.
"Fifteen minutes after rushing him away for resuscitation, they came
and told me he was dead and handed me his body. Perhaps they didn't
examine him properly. Dead people don't just wake up and talk. I'm
determined to find out the truth," said Santos.
Now, Kelvin's parents are suing the hospital for declaring him dead in
the first place claiming that he could have been saved if not for
medical malpractice.
Have your say !! What do you think ?

"Fifteen minutes after rushing him away for resuscitation, they came
and told me he was dead and handed me his body. Perhaps they didn't

the first place claiming that he could have been saved if not for
medical malpractice.
