being. I was only fighting with Sumaila and stoned him. The stone
mistakenly hit his father on the head.
"I threw a second stone, which also it also hit him in the
head, but I did not know it was not Sumaila." But the police insisted
he killed Lamidi when he went to rob the victim's house. Yekini was
said to have been on the run since the
incident.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tambari Mohammed, said Yekini
was on the command's wanted fist for violent robberies he had carried
out.
The CP said, "He ran out of luck on August 12, 2012, after the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad office got a report that he was sighted at Agbeni
area of the metropolis while robbing houses.
"SARS operatives quickly swung into action and stormed the scene
where he was arrested after a long struggle with the help of the
community. "He was the mastermind of the communal clash that occurred
in December 2011 at Agbokojo /Foko area in which several people were

Train crushes danfo bus in Lagos

IKEJA—An accident involving a train and a danfo bus occurred,
yesterday, at the Ajayi Farm railway crossing in Ikeja, Lagos,
injuring four persons, among them, a pregnant woman. Unconfirmed
report said one person died during
the stampede. The incident happened barely two days after a
similar one also involving a commercial bus occurred at the same spot,
where several persons reportedly sustained injuries.
An eye-witnesses account said yesterday's incident occurred about
7a.m. with the train colliding with the vehicle with number-plate XF
899 FGG which was driving towards Ikeja. The impact of the collision
flung the vehicle with its
four passengers – a pregnant woman and three men – to the front of The
Christian Dominion Ministry building at 26 Adegbola Street,
Anifowoshe.
The pregnant woman, according to eye-witnesses, was bleeding as at
the time she was taken to the hospital alongside other
passengers, where doctors were said to be battling to save their lives.
When Vanguard arrived the scene, the affected vehicle which had its
windscreen shattered, was
dripped with blood stains inside. It was glaring that the train hit
the vehicle from the driver's side. The incident caused a stampede as
everyone fled for dear life. But the train did not stop. Officials of
the Railway Service were sighted at the scene.
Another eyewitness, who gave his name as Mr. Gbenro Bangbe, blamed
the drivers of the train and vehicle, saying: "The bus driver was not
patient enough to let the train pass while the train driver did not
hoot his horn to alert vehicles that might be driving through the
railway."we gathered that a similar incident occurred Monday on same
spot, after a train collided with a commercial bus, where several
persons reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries.
"On that day, the bus was dragged all the way to the bridge by the
train. A lot of people sustained injuries and were rushed to the
Ikeja general hospital.
It is the same driver that drove the train on Monday that also
drove today. He does not hoot the horn like other drivers do", an eye
witness said. Meanwhile, commercial motorcyclists plying the route
have called on the state government to device measures aimed at
preventing a re- occurrence.

Manchester United agree fee with Arsenal for Robin van Persie

Persie, who had expressed his desire not to renew his contract at the
Emirates Stadium after being disillusioned with Arsenal's plans for
the future, is reportedly due to sign a four-year deal at Old Trafford
for a fee of £24 million.

A statement on Arsenal's official website read: "Arsenal Football Club
can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van
Persie to Manchester United.

"Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree
personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move."

The Netherlands international is likely to spearhead a formidable
attack for the Red Devils, as Wayne Rooney finished behind the
29-year-old with 27 league strikes last season.

Manchester City and Italian giants Juventus were also thought to be
interested in Van Persie's signature but the Dutchman looks set to
join former Crewe youngster Nick Powell and Japan international
midfielder Shinji Kagawa as Sir Alex Ferguson's summer recruits.

Breaking News- Zaaki Azzay's 8 year marriage ends; wife claims years of battery

After 8 years and three children together, Zaaki Azzay's marriage to
Hadiza Azzay has ended. The marriage actually ended four months ago
but we are all getting to know about it now because the ex-couple are
involved in a bitter custody battle. The police are even now involved.

29 year old Hadiza told me she packed out of her husband's house on
April 17th after being badly battered the day before by Zaaki. She was
able to leave with two of her children, but the third one, her eldest
child, is still living at home.

She claimed he had been battering her for years, sometimes he would
beat her so much she would faint, but her family kept telling her to
go back to him for the sake of their children. She said she left him
twice last year but returned to him after much pressure from family
and friends. But when the battery continued, she made up her mind to
end her marriage for good because she didn't want to be another dead
wife.

Hadiza was a housewife, so since leaving her husband she has been
under the care of an NGO that takes care of battered women. They've
given her and her children shelter and are taking up her case.

She will issue an official press statement telling her side of the
story in the coming days...right now she's dealing with the police who
arrested her for allegedly 'kidnapping' her own children. She says
Zaaki has been using the police to harass her. We are also looking to
get Zaaki's side of the story. More on this later..
