9ice, real names Abolore Akande is one of the artistes that brought
pride to singing in their mother tongues. The brave act was not only
applauded, he became role models to many
upcoming acts trying to sound like. Lately, the super star has been
out of the radar except for the negative stories making the rounds in
different newspapers and magazines.
Upon his arrival from the UK, he sat down with Seun Apara to give
answers to all the stories that have termed him controversial
including plans to drop new songs and his new album.
Was it a deliberate act to stay off the scene for a while?
Well, I have been involved with other projects. I was busy with a
movie project where I played a major role and that took lots of time.
I also travelled to UK to shoot four videos which I will be releasing
as a compilation in a matter of weeks. I shot videos for Attitude and
3310 from my latest album, Basorun Gaa. Also shot videos for Get Into
It and Ike Kan, two of the four singles I will be releasing soon.
What about the four singles you are releasing?
I titled the four singles I'm releasing as 'Obawon', 'Ikekan', 'Get
into it' and 'I Dare You'. The motives behind the four songs are that
we are entering into the festive period and people need to party and
enjoy. Aside that, there is a need for re-think of how they spent
their lives from January to December. The four singles coming out is
also to whet the appetites of the fans for my next album coming out in
March 15 next year but before then, the Alapomeji All Star album will
drop in December.
What do you intend to achieve with these new singles?
The overall achievement basically is to be at the forefront because I
have been quiet for a while now in the industry. It's not going to be
over until it is over and as a result, we need to keep the brand
going. 'Obawon' is all about trying to reframe your identity or your
privilege in the industry and I Dare You' is another word that people
uses a lot; I dare you to slap me or I dare you to call my name. I am
daring people to say one or two things about me. I want a reaction
from them.
So what will happen after if they dare you?
Then I will react What are the concepts behind your new videos? They
are going to be historical videos. For instance, not everybody will
understand what we mean by 'Ike Kan'. So we are trying to explain what
'Ike kan' means in the video and same thing for 'Get into It'. The
videos were directed by Musa, the same guy that directed Wizkid and
Wande coal's latest videos. We are releasing the four videos together
as a compilation CD with a concert to accompany it.
The whole idea behind the concert is just to drive publicity to what
we are releasing so that the fans can go out there and get it. You
don't just release the singles and be silent about it.
You need to let people hear about it and also perform it for the
people that will be in attendance. This will go a long way in putting
it in the mouth of people. I will be supported by
other Alapomeji acts like Alabi and Seriki.
When is the concert coming up?
It will be in second week of December but no specific date yet. The
concert will take place at Civic Center. The superlative concert is
basically for industry people and the press as
well. It will be strictly b y invitation.
What is the title of your on-coming album?
I always release the title of my album long before it dropped. I don't
like to hide it. I'm releasing a double album like the last one I did.
One is 'CNN' while the other one is titled 'GRA'. Each is going to
come with eight songs making it total number of16 songs. The full
meaning of GRA is Galvanizing Right Ahead and the other one is
Cancelling Numerous
Negativity (CNN). There has been a lot of negativity about me of late.
One is cancelling all negativity and the other one is a step to move
ahead.
Apart from the new materials you are about to release, what are the
other projects you are working on?
We are working on the Alapomeji All Star album and that will be
released next year. People felt by now Kayefi's album should be out
but there seems to be no sign of such……
A lot of people don't know the story behind it. She just got married
and she's raising her child. We have to allow her to raise her child.
There is this news that you just joined a new record label known as
Diesel Music, how true is it?
There is no iota of truth in it. The owner of Diesel Music is a friend
of mine and we are just trying to make the label popular.
How do you react to controversies and negative stories?
I like it and I want more. If nobody talks about you, that means you
are not in existence. I have learned to realize that both negative and
positive stories work for the artiste but it depends on how you can
cope with it, live with it, get over it and move ahead. Whoever is
having it negative now, should expect it positive later and whoever is
having it positive now, should expect it negative soon too. The most
important thing is deal with it and get on with your life.
What actually went wrong between you and your former manager, Dehinde?
People always want to believe something might have happened before two
people with working relationships go their different ways. We all know
that 20 children can't play together for 20 years. There is always a
point in someone's life that you think you need to move on. That was
what happened and I still work with him on one or two other things
that I need him to help me do.
What is the true story that an Abuja lover that delivered twins for you?
Sometimes, I wish people can just ask me questions before publishing
their stories. That story is not true and I want to tell you that they
are making it up. If they had asked me, I would have been able to tell
them if it's true or not. I wish the habit of writing without
confirming from the person involved can stop. I wish!
And that you are back to your estranged wife hobnobbing in Magodo?
People just like to spread unpalatable stories and nobody will call
9ice to even confirm. I was once married and I'm now separated. That
is the fact!
You recently featured in a movie titled Jejere, what was the experience like?
Well, I don't think I want to feature in any movie again. That might
be my first and the last. You sit down at home, watch them and
criticize them but there're so much more to it than what we see.
Imagine shooting a movie for over a month and you are supposed to edit
it to an hour. It's much more difficult than we imagine.
How would you describe your experience on set?
I was there for about a week, in different locations. They shot in
different cities and places. It was difficult, quite difficult and at
the same time, very challenging. That is going to
me my first and last movie except if I'm being offered a huge sum
amount of money, then I can cancel other events for like two weeks for
a movie shoot.
Aren't you planning to shoot your own movie before?
I was supposed to shoot a movie of my own before actually but while
working on Jejere and I saw the way is being done, I decided to drop
that movie idea for now.
What is your opinion about the current state of the Nigerian music industry?
I think we are getting worst instead of us getting better. What we
dish out is not quality. What we have now is quite different from the
way it all started. I would say it's better we go back to the days of
Plantashun Boiz. What do we have now? Do we even have song now? What
we have now is the beat. Aside that, there is no content regulation
.We have been saying that we should go back to the drawing board.
Thefirst thing is to get PMAN right. Once we get PMAN right with the
artistes of this generation participating actively in PMAN activities,
the body will be able to represent all the musicians and fight for our
collective and individual rights.

‘I’m Not Evil’ – Empress Njamah Accuses The Media Of Painting Her Bad
Sometimes, we forget our celebrities are humans too: they cry, laugh,
smile and have the same feelings we experience.
Empress Njamah has reminded us, while pouring out her heart on her
Facebook wall some days back.
The actress has accused the Nigerian Press of poor journalism in
'order to make money'. Timaya's former lover went on the social
network on November 7, 2012 to profess her innocence while also
explaining to her friends and fans that the negative news said about
her are not true.
'Never judge a book by its cover; I am a typical example of that. When
people who have read or heard a lot of negative reports about me meet
me, they are always shocked. Some will even render their apology,
telling me, "Empress, I am
sorry, I didn't think you were this kind of warm, Njamah wrote on her
Facebook wall.
She also blamed the press for 'misinforming the masses in order to
make money'. 'You see with the way people painted at me especially the
press, anyone who has not met me before will think I am a devil. The
function of the press in society is to inform, but its role in
decadent society like ours is abused by misinforming the masses in
order to make money. If you believe everything you see and hear in the
news, then, you can as well believe Obama is a grandmother', she said.
Calling the society a hypocritical one, Njamah says 'Our society is
full of hypocrisy. Apart from the fact that acting nude is alien to
our culture, there are so many things happening in our society today
which are not part of our culture. The same people who would love to
see you look decent are the same people who would go behind your back
to criticise you.
That's our society for you. Yes, if my society is not all that
hypocritical, I will do it'. Njamah has failed to steer away from
controversy – from Kleptomania allegations, to dirty fights with
Timaya and all, she's fed us more than enough of her private parts…
And she'll definitely pass as the most controversial of the Njamah
siblings.

Former Minister of FCT, Mallam Nasir el Rufai ;Don't envy Nigerian pastors who own private jets
It seems we've not heard the last of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor's birthday
gift as Pastor Tunde Bakare's comment about a need for revolution
because certain eminent religious leaders have private jets, has been
greatly condemned by religious leaders.
Reacting to Pastor Bakare's comment, the General Secretary of the
Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Musa Asake; Director of
National Issues of CAN in charge of North West Zone, Rev. Haruna
Karatu; and the PRO of 19 northern states and Abuja CAN, Elder Sunday
Oibe said there is nothing wrong with people donating aircraft to
their religious leaders.
Bakare had said, a few days after church members donated a private jet
to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor as a birthday present, that a bloody
revolution that would consume religious leaders who are acquiring
private jets would soon break out in the country, as he urged their
congregations to challenge them to explain where and how they raised
the money to procure such expensive jets.
Responding, the CAN secretary said: "What is wrong with giving a
birthday gift to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor? Did he embezzle church money?
Did he collect somebody's money? If a group of people come together to
buy him a jet to ease his evangelical work, why should that be a
subject of public debate?
"Oritsejafor is a man of God. He is doing everything for the work of
God". Also speaking on the ongoing debate in social media especially
the tweet by former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam
Nasir el Rufai, Elder Eghes Eyieyien said Nigerian pastors who own
private jets should not be envied because they travel very frequently
around the world ministering.
"Redeemed Christian Church of God has thousands of branches and
millions of members on all continents of the world. Winners' Chapel
and Christ Embassy equally have many international branches and
hundreds of thousands of members. Pastor Adeboye, Bishop Oyedepo and
Pastor Oyakhilome travel thousands of kilometres monthly doing God's
work and have to be in places not well-served by commercial flights,"
he said.

Justin Bieber And Selena Gomez Fight, As She Locks Him Out Of Her House!
An attempted reconciliation dinner between Justin Bieber and Selena
Gomez Friday night went terribly wrong.
They exited Yamato Japanese restaurant in Encino, where they were
planning to dine, just minutes after arriving in separate cars, with
Selena speeding off first.
Back at her house, Selena drove in first, and when Justin arrived, she
wouldn't let him in!
As you can see in the photos obtained by our source, Justin couldn't
get further than the locked gate blocking the driveway!
The teen singer stood at the gate, shouting for Selena, and when she
didn't respond, he could be seen pouting, standing next to the open
door of his white Ferrari.
The tantrum went on for several minutes, eyewitnesses say, with the
Biebs literally hanging on to the gate and calling out for his
estranged girlfriend.
Maybe it was the bizarre harem pants Justin was wearing that turned
her off but Selena apparently was having none of it.
When Justin finally walked back to his car, the actress was spotted
looking out her walk-in gate at the Baby singer.

''Diamonds'' crooner Rihanna's 777 Tour Takes on Stockholm!
Day three! Following Rihanna's tour kick-off in Mexico City, the
sultry singer pressed on with the celebration of her seventh album,
Unapologetic, getting closer to knocking out seven performances in
seven countries in seven days. E! News, along with 200 other
journalists, have been along for the ride with the "Diamonds" crooner
on her whirlwind world tour, this time accompanying the star to her
concert in Sweden.
When we arrived in Stockholm at 3:40 p.m., it was already dark
outside! Most people had slept on the plane from Toronto, so it felt
like dawn instead of dusk. Rihanna was scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.,
but she didn't take the stage until 11:40 p.m.--over two and a half
hours late. "I know I'm a little late so I first want to apologize for
all the inconvenience," Rihanna told the crowd.
"I want to thank you for being the shit and so patient with me and
being still this excited." "I can't believe I'm back here this
quickly. I must apologize. You guys make me feel so special," Rihanna
continued, before singing "Only Girl." The GQ Magazine cover girl
stepped on stage wearing white Chanel oversized glasses and a huge
gold Chanel chain, and a denim jacket--which she quickly took off
because of the heat. The venue was a gorgeous older building, the
classiest of the trip so far.
Unlike Mexico City and Toronto, the crowd was a bit older, but they
enjoyed Rihanna just as much. It was packed inside and very warm.
Rihanna had to towel off twice, and you could still see her sweating
through her shirt. But it didn't faze her at all. She also definitely
wasn't wearing a bra...but that's a different story. Rihanna went on
to perform her new song, "Stay," for only the second time ever live
(the first time was on SNL).
Before she started the song, she said to the crowd, "This is only my
second time performing it so forgive me if I forget the lyrics." She
sang the slow ballad beautifully, and ended the show on a more upbeat
note, with "We Found Love." After the show, Rihanna joined the
journalists and VIPs at the after-party and poured cocktails and shots
for people. She was having a great time. Near the end of it, around
4:30 a.m., she took a swig of something and said, "I quit!"
It's baffling how she does all of this every day (and night).
"Stockholm thank you, I love you so much! I think I'm gonna spend the
night with you guys!! Paris, I'll see you tomorrow tho #777tour,"
Rihanna tweeted following the festivities. Off to the city of love!

Man Bites Off POLICE Officer's NIPPLE
A policeman, Constable Wizdom Njanji, who was manning the Mbizo Police
Post charge office, lost his nipple during a savage attack at the
hands of a suspect arrested for disorderly behaviour in a public
place.
On November 13, Dhlomo Mduduzi (31) allegedly attacked Njanji in the
charge office, while the policeman tried to get his details for the
purposes of processing a fine.
"The suspect, who had been arrested for disorderly conduct, refused to
give police officers his name for the purposes of processing a fine.
Njanji, who was in the charge office at that time, tried to force
Mduduzi to submit his name, but he got angry and attacked the officer,
biting him on the chest," read the State outline.
Mduduzi, who appeared in court Thursday, pleaded guilty to assaulting
the policeman and biting off his nipple, but said he was unaware that
he was attacking a policeman since Njanji was not in uniform.
Provincial magistrate Taurai Manuwere sentenced Mduduzi to 10 months
in prison, but suspended six months for five years on condition of
good behaviour, while the other four months were suspended on
condition he pays a $500 fine.
Manuwere condemned the act of violence, saying Mduduzi had shown utter
disrespect by attacking a policeman in a police station.

Nigerian MEDIA Made ME a DEVIL to make MONEY–EMPRESS NJAMAH
Today, Saturday, November 17, 2012, Nollywood's controversial actress,
Empress Njamah added a year to her age. But for the former girlfriend
of controversial Bayelsa State-born singer, Timaya, she chose this day
to pour out her mind on the way the media practitioners in Nigeria
have made a devil out of her in order to make money for themselves.
The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State graduate took
to her Facebook page to express her displeasure at the way the
watchdogs of the society have, according to her, 'poisoned' the minds
of the people in believing she is as bad as she is being reported in
the press.
She posted, "never judge a book by its cover; I am a typical example
of that. When people who have read or heard a lot of negative reports

of controversial Bayelsa State-born singer, Timaya, she chose this day
to pour out her mind on the way the media practitioners in Nigeria
have made a devil out of her in order to make money for themselves.
The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State graduate took
to her Facebook page to express her displeasure at the way the
watchdogs of the society have, according to her, 'poisoned' the minds
of the people in believing she is as bad as she is being reported in
the press.
She posted, "never judge a book by its cover; I am a typical example
of that. When people who have read or heard a lot of negative reports
about me meet me, they are always shocked. Some will even render their
apology, telling me, 'Empress, I am sorry, I didn't think you were
this kind of warm'.
"You see with the way people painted me especially the press, anyone
who has not met me before will think I am a devil. The function of the
press in society is to inform, but its role in a decadent society like
ours is abused by misinforming the masses in order to make money.
"If you believe everything you see and hear in the news, then, you can
as well believe Obama is a grandmother. I do not see myself joining
any clique. I do not see myself hanging out at the theatre with
others, discussing everything about nothing. If anybody needs me, if
you have a job for me, just call me.
"Our society is full of hypocrisy. Apart from the fact that acting
nude is alien to our culture, there are so many things happening in
our society today which are not part of our culture. The same people
who would love to see you look decent are the same people who would go
behind your back to criticise you. That's our society for you. Yes, if
my society is not all that hypocritical, I will do it."
You really think the Nigerian media has 'poisoned' the mind of the
people in believing that Empress is a devil?
DSTV FRAUDSTERS Arrested At ALABA
The police in Lagos have arrested two traders, John Andy and Valentine
Ezenwaka, for allegedly engaging in piracy of DSTV signals. The Police
Special Fraud Unit, SFU, stated this on Friday. The duo, traders at the
Alaba International market, are accused of importing, selling, and
distributing "illicit" devices capable of illegally accessing DSTV's
broadcast signals to "unsuspecting" members of the public.
In a statement signed by Ngozi Isintume-Agu, the SFU Public Relations
Officer, the police said it acted upon a petition by Multichoice
Nigeria Limited, the provider of encrypted multi-channel satellite
television service known as DSTV.
Tunde Ogunshakin, Commissioner of Police at SFU, said, according to
the statement, that the suspects set up contrived equipment that act
as gateways which facilitated illegal access to the multinational
company's broadcast signals.
"Some items suspected to have been used in pirating the intellectual
property were recovered as exhibits," Mr. Ogunshakin said.
According to police records, Mr. Johnson, 28, an apprentice from Abia
State was arrested in Shop No. "F" 1377 and the items recovered from
him included a strong decoder, 16 open boxes and one UPS.
Mr. Ezenwaka, 42, who hails from Anambra State, on the other hand,
claimed to be a technician who repairs TVs, LCDs, and DVDs.
He is the owner of Shop No. "73″ and the items recovered from him
included Avatars and Spider which according to him are Receivers for
free to air transmission. Also, a Laptop and Desktop Computers were
recovered, the police said.
Mr. Ogunshakin said that the suspects would be charged to court "soonest."
Multichoice, through DSTV, has a monopoly over major programmes and
events in Nigeria including the English Premier League, and the full
UEFA Champions League. The seemingly high cost of subscription for the
DSTV channels makes some Nigerians look for ways to by-pass official
and legal routes to access these programs and channels.
Officials of Multichoice have in the past explained that moneys paid
to get the rights of some of these exclusive programs and channels,
coupled with huge operation costs, lead to the high subscription fees.
