CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY - KING SUNNY ADE !!!

KING SUNNY ADE'S LIFE OVERVIEW

Birth nameSunday Adeniyi Born September 22, 1946 (age 66) Oshogbo
OriginOndo, Nigeria GenresJùjú,Yearsactive1960s–present "King" Sunny
Adé (born Sunday Adeniyi, September 22, 1946) is a popular performer
of Yoruba Nigerian jùjú music and a pioneer of modern world music. He
has been classed as one of the most influential musicians of all
time.[1]

Adé was born to a Nigerian royal family in Ondo, thus making him an
Omoba of the Yoruba people. His father was a church organist, while his
mother was a trader. Adé left grammar school in Ondo under the
pretense of going to the University of Lagos. There, in Lagos, his
mercurial musical career started.

Sunny Adé's Musical Sound has evolved from the early days. His career
began with Moses Olaiya's Federal Rhythm Dandies, a highlife band.

He left to form The Green Spots in 1967. Over the years, for various
reasons ranging from changes in his music to business concerns, Sunny
Adé's band changed its name several times, first to African Beats and
then to Golden Mercury.

Sunny Adé's music is characterised by, among other instruments, the
talking drum - an instrument indigenous to his Yoruba roots, the
guitar and his peculiar application to jùjú music, that would easily
put him in the same class as guitar musicians like Santana.

His music is in the age old tradition of singing poetic lyrics ("Ewi"
in Yoruba) and praise of dignitaries as well components of "juju"
(traditional African belief) called the "Ogede"-"casting a spell".
Hence, Adé's music constitutes a record of the oral tradition of his
people for posterity.

Sunny Adé was the first to introduce the pedal steel guitar to
Nigerian pop music. He was the first to introduce the use of
synthesizers, clavinet, vibraphone, tenor guitar into the jùjú music
repertoire such as dub and wah-wah guitar licks.

Sunny has collaborated with major artists such as Manu Dibango
(WAKAFRIKA) and Stevie Wonder (played harmonica in Aura).

Sunny Adé's brief recordings with Island records opened the floodgates
for other world music artist like Senegalese Youssou N'Dour, Mali's
Salif Keita and a host of others.

In 1987, Sunny Adé returned to international spotlight when Rykodisc
released a live concert he did in Seattle and was given an astonishing
embrace by fans across the globe who were eager for another
international album release.

He soon employed an American manager, Andrew Frankel, negotiated
another three album record deal with the Mesa record label (a Division
of Paradise Group) in America. One of these albums was 1998's Odu, a
collection of traditional Yoruba songs, with which he was nominated
for the second Grammy Award and thus making him the first African to
be nominated twice for a Grammy.

Apart from being an international musician Sunny Adé is also prominent
in his native Nigeria, running multiple companies in several
industries, creating a non-profit organization called the King Sunny
Adé Foundation, and working with the Musical Copyright Society of
Nigeria.

In recent times, hip hop music appears to be holding sway with the
electronic media in Nigeria with massive airplays. Nonetheless, Sunny
Adé's musical output has continued to inspire a vast generation of
other Nigerian musicians, who believe in the big band musical set up
which Sunny Adé and late Fela Kuti are noted for.

The musician, Lagbaja is one of the very many musicians Sunny Adé's
music has inspired. In 2008, his contributions to world music was
recognised; as he was given an award for his outstanding contribution
to world music at the Reggae and world music awards held at the
Appollo Theater in Harlem, New York.

In the 1980s Adé embarked on a career in Hollywood. His music was
featured in the 1983 film Breathless, starring Richard Gere, and the
1986 comedy One More Saturday Night, and he acted in Robert Altman's
1987 comedy O.C. and Stiggs.

The entire YB entertainment celebrates you sir !! Happy Birthday King Sunny Ade

NOLLYWOOD : ‘I think Tonto Dike is a good person’ – Bimbo Akintola

Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola has bared her mind about her
colleague, Tonto Dike one of Nollywood's most controversial actresses.

The University of Ibadan graduate mentioned this while responding to
allegations that she's not friendly with her colleagues. 'I pick my
friends from the heart, I have actors who have been my friends for 20
years and we are still going strong. It is like marriage, if you don't
have the right partner, there would be trouble. If you have the wrong
friends, they will never tell you
when you are going wrong.

When asked to name few of her friends in the industry, she mentioned
Dike, stating that she is an amiable and lovable person. 'I love Tonto
Dike, I met her once and I think she is a good
person' she said.

'I love Omotola Jalade Ekeinde too, I would say she is my friend, we
don't see or talk everyday but when we do see and talk, it is a moment
to treasure, Stella Damasus, Keppy
Ekpeyoung Bassey are also my friends amongst others', she concluded.

Akintola, 37, soared to limelight after featuring in the popular' Owo
Blow' movie and 'Check Mate' where she co-starred with Richard Mofe
Damijo and other notable actors.

MTN PROJECT FAME : Singer Didi Sent Home from Project Fame

It was another night of excitement-laced tension as one unlucky
contestant said goodbye to the ongoing Project Fame reality show.

In no particular order, Adetoun, Didi, Christian, Ella, and
Oyinkansade – the five contestants with the least votes – were asked
to repeat the songs they sang individually last week. This
time around they were not only expected to impress their fans but also
the judges and faculty who have the powers to save one contestant each
from the claws of elimination.

Eventually the judges saved Adetoun, the faculty chose Oyinkansade,
while last two votes went to Christian, thus leaving Didi and Ella as
the eliminated contestants.

The judges however pulled a surprise and chose to exercise their power
of recall by saving an elated Ella who could hardly believe her fate.

Paris Hilton apologizes for gay bashing

Paris Hilton released an apology saying, "Gay people are the strongest
and most inspiring people I know." This apology is in response to a
recording released in which Hilton calls gays "the horniest people in
the world". Hilton went on to state, "Most of them probably have
AIDS".

This statement obviously upset the gay community and their supporters.
Ok it probably offended 85% of the population. Really Paris? Paris had
previously released a statement trying to explain herself, but now she
has issued a full-blown apology and it's posted on GLAAD's website.
Hilton stated that she was having a private conversation with a friend
and was in no way bashing the gay community. GLAAD posted the apology
on its website on

Thursday. Question is should Hilton get off the proverbial hook with
just an apology? It's not the first time she has put her foot in her
mouth. Paris' apology: "As anyone close to me knows, I always have
been and always will be a huge supporter of the gay community.

I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans
and their families with the comments heard this morning. I was having
this private conversation with a friend of mine who is gay and our
conversation was in no way towards the entire gay community. It is the
last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words
how much I wish I could take back every word…"

KANYE WEST "PRACTICALLY IN TEARS" AFTER SEX TAPE WITH KIM KARDASHIAN LOOK-ALIKE IS PUT UP FOR SALE

The nearly 20-minute-long recording is believed to have been shot with
an unidentified female who is a 'dead ringer' for Kim herself,
RadarOnline.com reports.

Filmed in what appears to be a hotel room, the married woman
reportedly confirms at the start of the tape that she's over the age
of 18 and fully consenting.

She adds: 'My husband and I don't have sex anymore… that's why I'm
here!' According to the US gossip site, the mystery woman is a Kim
lookalike with a curvaceous figure and long dark hair.

Radar maintains to have seen the steamy tape in full and claim they
can verify 'without a doubt' that it is the 35-year-old rapper in the
video.
Throughout the romp, the pair allegedly don't kiss or interact in any
way apart from trying out various positions.

The man who appears to be Kanye is said to be aware he is being filmed
because he not only set up the camera, but also looks directly into
the device at the end of the video.

According to an industry insider, the tape was shot shortly before
Kanye officially got together with Kim in March, and he is said to be
'terrified' about the video being leaked.

A source claimed to Radar: 'The sex tape is being shopped right now
and there's a lot of interest, but Kanye is freaking out!

'He doesn't want this tape out and will do anything to make sure it
stays private. If this were to hit the market it would be worth a
fortune… there would definitely be a lot of people wanting to see
this!

'Kanye was practically in tears when he heard the tape was being shopped.'

LATEST: Rapper, MI Follows Eedris Abdukareem's Footstep, Wages War Against Rick Ross

In August 2012, another US rapper, Rick Ross was in Nigeria for a
show. While in Nigeria, Rick Ross shot a music video for his
controversial 'Hold Me Back' song.

The Nigerian version of music video has, after its release, been
criticised for the bad portrayal of Nigeria as a slum country.Recall
that his first version of the same music video was banned on BET
stations for some controversial issues.

Now, Nigerian rapper, Jude Abaga otherwise known as MI has vent his
anger on Rozay as Rick Ross is fondly called over the way he painted
the most populous black nation in the world as ghetto.

MI posted on his website, "does it make you angry? Does it rile you to
see your country portrayed as poor and suffering and full of struggle?

"It burns you, does it not? To have some foreigner- who knows nothing
of your history and pain, of the stories that flow within your blood-
to have this foreigner come in and tell your story?

"Is it not the height of disrespect and insensitivity? Does it not
chafe against the thick skin you have grown to cover your other
wounds? Does it not make you angry? "We should wax sanctimonious about
national pride being slighted. We should vent our displeasure online.

We should occupy something. Because God forbid the truth ever be told
about what things really are."God forbid a stranger remind us about
those things we choose to ignore everyday. God forbid we ever face the
truth about ourselves. God forbid we do not go on the internet and
rail about how our country is being cast in bad light.

"God forbid we do not talk about how there is a small minority which
lives better than portrayed. God forbid we do not ignore truth one
more time. God forbid we don't." For those who have watch the
controversial music video, was Rick Ross portraying a wrong Nigeria?

Lindsay Lohan: Mom Dina Lohan Regrets Pushing Her to Become a Child Star

Heard anything about Lindsay Lohan lately? Anything? Mom Dina Lohan
certainly has, and she's sounding off abou her embattled daughter's
seemingly never-ending barrage of police run-ins and headline-grabbing
antics, which now includes accusations that LiLo swiped a bystander
with her car on Wednesday in New York and fled the scene.

"I'm certainly not making excuses for Lindsay's behavior," Dina told
the New York Daily News Friday. "But she's a 26-year-old woman."

The controversial mom also second-guessed her decision to push LiLo
into showbiz at such a young age, which found the precocious and
talented star scoring a slew of ads and top billing in flicks like The
Parent Trap before she was even a teenager.

"I was born into the business," Dina says. "My mother was an
entertainer. It was natural. But yes, in the next life, I might no do
it."

HAUSA MAN CAUGHT SELLING VULTURE AS FRIED CHICKEN FOR HIS SUYA BUSINESS

Nemesis caught up with this young man as luck ran off his way when he
was apprehended by residents of the Garden city, while trapping
vultures with snuff in Onne, Port Harcourt.

The man from the North East region of Nigeria later confessed that
wanted to use them as roasted chicken for his Suya business.

He also claimed that he has been in this roasted vulture and suya
business in Port Harcourt for a long time.

This is the height of man's irresponsibility, it is however advised to

I DIDN’T KNOW I WAS PREGNANT: BRITISH SOLDIER GIVES BIRTH IN AFGHANISTAN

I always thought TV show, 'I didn't know I was pregnant' on Zone
Reality was doctored, but it sure happens. You can be pregnant and not
know.

A British soldier who did not realize she was pregnant has given birth
to a baby boy at the Camp Bastion field hospital in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) in London said mother and baby were in
stable condition and a specialist "Paediatric Retrieval Team" would
fly out from Britain to care for them during the long flight home.

"It is not military policy to allow servicewomen to deploy on
operations if they are pregnant. In this instance, the MOD was unaware
of her pregnancy," the ministry said.

According to The Daily Mail, the woman herself was unaware of the
pregnancy. The Mail said the Royal Artillery gunner had conceived
before her six-month stint in Afghanistan began. Her pre-deployment
training included an eight mile march and five mile run. Her job in
the field involved providing covering fire for troops fighting
insurgents.

She was taken to the field hospital after complaining of stomach pains
and was informed by doctors that she was about to have a baby.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Lewis, commanding officer of the field
hospital, was quoted as saying "This is a unique occurrence, but my
team is well-rehearsed in the unexpected and they adapted brilliantly
to this situation. I am pleased to report the mother and baby are
doing well and we are all delighted at the outcome.
