Boko Haram ,We are Ready to Talk ; names Buhari, 5 others as mediators

MAIDUGURI— Leadership of Jama'atul Ahlis Sunnah Lidda'awati Wal Jihad,
also called Boko Haram, has named the former Head of State and
presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC,
General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), among six prominent northerners, to
mediate between the group and the Federal Government.

The Federal Government in a statement by Dr. Reuben Abati,
Presidential Spokesman, Thursday, welcomed the move.

Boko Haram, however, said that for the group to observe ceasefire, the
Federal Government must heed its demand by arresting and prosecuting
the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.

Gen. Buhari
Governor Ibrahim Shettima of Borno State also, Thursday, said security
agencies should be allowed to do their job on those they suspect are
sponsors or sympathisers of the Boko Haram sect.

Shettima told state house correspondents after a meeting of the
National Economic Council that the security challenge in the country
required the efforts of all Nigerians to overcome.

Meanwhile, spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, who
doubles as the Second-in-Command (Amir) to their leader, Imam Abubakar
Shekau, made the group's intention known in a tele-conference with
journalists in Maiduguri, Thursday.

Mediators
Abdulazeez said other people, who could mediate with the government if
its conditions were met, include Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, former Yobe
State governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and
Hajia Aisha Wakil and her husband, Alkali Wakil.

Dialogue venue
He insisted, however, that such dialogue must not take place in
Nigeria, but Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the choice of Saudi Arabia was informed by the
insincerity of the Nigeria government for dialogue and its betrayal in
the past.

Abdulazeez insisted that for the group to ceasefire completely, the
government must not only apprehend, but prosecute Senator Modu Sheriff
according to the laws of the land as well as compensate members of the
group and rebuild their places of worship destroyed during 2009
uprising, which led to the alleged murder of their leader, Mohammed
Yusuf.

Conditions for ceasefire
The Boko Haram spokesman further stressed that, all their members, who
were arrested and are under the custody of security agencies must be
released immediately, just as their wives and children who were
displaced following the crises should be rehabilitated into the
society to allow room for the much talked about dialogue with the
Federal Government.

Commenting on the series of recent killings and destruction of
property in Maiduguri, Abu Abdulazeez dissociated Boko Haram from the
action, saying such attacks were not only politically-motivated, but
carried out by those seeking power in the Borno Emirate council or in
government.

He stressed that recent killings and destructions in Maiduguri were
against the ideology of the sect, which he said was fighting the cause
of Allah.

Abdulazeez also said the burning of old and newly-constructed primary
schools witnessed across the state were not carried out by the sect,
insisting that they were perpetrated by aggrieved politicians who were
denied contracts by the state government.

Last February, the group had also nominated Monguno, Bukar Ibrahim,
Aisha Wakil and Jinadu Idris as part of a team to mediate between it
and the Federal Government, but the negotiation never got off.

Buhari reacts
Thursday, was, however, the first time the group would be proposing
Gen. Buhari as part of a mediation team between it and the Federal
Government.

Buhari, who returned to Kaduna from Daura, Katsina State, yesterday
evening, said he was yet to be formally contacted on the development.

Buba Galadima, an associate of the former Head of State speaking on
behalf of the General said: "His first reaction is that he has not
heard about this news and nobody has contacted him.

"He said he wouldn't want to say anything on this matter that has not
yet been authenticated, but he remains prayerful that peace and
tranquility will return to this country."

Sheriff's words
Meanwhile, Sheriff, who spoke in Abuja on the issue of the involvement
of politicians with Boko Haram, said: "I think it is within the realm
and the responsibility of the security agencies to unearth the truth.

"I am more of a developmental politician and I am more interested in
addressing the core issues that make our society vulnerable to the
antics of religious bigots and all sorts of misfits that are
indoctrinating our young ones to these things.

"I don't want to dabble into the realm of the security agencies
neither do I want to respond to allegations and accusations from any
quarter.

"But it is the responsibility of security agencies to unearth those
behind Boko Haram."
A veteran journalist Dele Giwa said an evil done by man to man will be
rewarded if not now then later, if not by man then certainly by God.
But the day of evil over good is only temporary.

"I think the problem at hand goes beyond politics. The underlying
factor is poverty. The most important thing is how we can resolve this
problem and restore harmony, peace and how to eradicate endemic
poverty which is the underlying factor of the whole crisis.

"I want to solicit for the media not to dwell on sensationalism but
proper conflict resolution and move our society forward. Its pains me
if a single person is killed by Boko Haram, when innocent souls are
lost.

"Its sheer hooliganism. Its sheer madness for anybody to burn a place
of worship. These are the issue agitating my mind and I don't want to
dwell on politics for now."

PICTURE SHOWS CHELSEA FAN IN A ‘MONKEY’ GESTURE AT WELBECK AS REFEREE IS ALLEGED TO HAVE CALLED MIKEL ‘MONKEY’

The alleged racism row that marred Sunday's English Premier league
game between Chelsea and Manchester United seemed to resurface last
night in a League Cup fourth round tie incidentally, between the same
clubsides.

Unacceptable: The Chelsea Fan (Circled) Appears To Make A Monkey
Gesture Towards Welbeck After The Striker Mis-controls The Ball

A Chelsea fan was pictured in the stands apparently directing a
'monkey' gesture at Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck which has
prompted the Stamford Bridge side to launch an investigation.

A Chelsea spokesman said: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm we are
investigating an incident involving a member of the crowd at last
night's game against Manchester United.

"The club will be examining all available footage and asks anyone who
can identify the individual to contact the club.

"Chelsea FC is committed to removing all forms of discrimination and
if we have sufficient evidence we will take the strongest possible
action, including supporting criminal prosecution."

Meanwhile this is as John Mikel Obi has consistently told Chelsea
officials that he wanted to pursue the case against Clattenburg after
the official allegedly told him to 'shut it, monkey' during Chelsea's
3-2 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

DOCTORS CUT OFF VETERAN ACTOR, PETE ENEH'S LEG TO SAVE HIS LIFE

Multiple reports are claiming that veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Eneh
reportedly lost one of his legs through amputation due to infection in
the leg.

A source in the industry is telling our source that the actor, who has
been in an Enugu hospital, has been down since last year when he had
the injury in his leg.

His case deteriorated when he couldn't get proper medical attention to
take care of the injured leg. For the infection not to spread to other
parts of his body, the doctors made the decision to amputate his leg
to save his life.

Pete Eneh adored many Nollywood film jackets some years ago. As at
press time, we couldn't get in touch with him.

WIZKID CONFESSES - I HAD CRUSH ON GENEVIEVE NNAJI, I CAN STILL DATE HER

Like a big bang, Ayodeji Balogun otherwise known as Wizkid hit the
Nigerian music industry few years ago when he released his hit single
'Holla At Your Boy'.

The song became an instant hit especially when it became the favourite
of many hit TV stations across Africa.

It is very usual for celebrities to have crush on some people before
they also became a celeb. While answering questions from Toolz on
Ndani TV, Wizkid revealed that he had crush on Nollywood superstar
actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

According to Wizkid, "I really had a crush on Genevieve until I met
her and I realized she was my aunty. I love her.

"When I was a kid, I loved watching her movies. I met her when I was
with my older uncles, they told her to come meet their boy (me) and I
said 'Good evening ma'. It is all good though, I still love you
Genevieve,"

When teased by Toolz if he could still date the 33 years old screen
goddess, 22-year-old Wizkid said, "Yea, definitely, but I doubt she
would date me."

He was then given a tip on how to get Genevieve. "I think you should
send a private jet to go pick her (Genevieve) up at her house and take
her to wherever you are just for dinner," Toolz told Wizkid. "I
promise, I am going to do that, the EME artiste assured Toolz.

Sir Alex Ferguson blames Nani for Manchester United’s Capital One Cup defeat to Chelsea

The Scot feels the winger should have tried to keep possession late
on, rather than beat his man, and says the Red Devils only have
themselves to blame for Stamford bridge loss

Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has pointed the finger of
blame at Nani after his side's 5-4 defeat to Chelsea in the Capital
One Cup.

The visitors took the lead three times at Stamford Bridge and were 3-2
up with minutes of normal time remaining when Nani lost the ball,
which ultimately led to Chelsea winning a penalty which Eden Hazard
converted to take the tie to extra-time.

The Blues then went on to win the game 5-4 and Sir Alex insisted his
side only had themselves to blame for not sealing victory.

"Well we gave the ball away for the third goal when we had complete
control of the match at that point, playing really good football," he
told Sky Sports.

"All we needed to do was see the game out and keep possession. Nani
decided to try and beat a man and lost the ball, and then it was a
penalty kick. I don't know if it was a penalty kick or not. I think at
that point our young players started to feel it and it was very
difficult in extra time.

"Nani is experienced, he's an individual, he's a player who wants to
beat men and we are not going to discourage that but in that situation
if he had kept the ball in the corner flag, the game's over." Despite
his disappointment at the defeat, the United manager did have time to
praise his players, particularly Ryan Giggs who scored twice for the
visitors.

"I think some of our football was terrific. I think in Ryan Giggs you
have a player of unbelievable proportions in terms of playing 120
minutes at 39 years of age, next month. It's a credit to himself, it's
an example to everyone on that pitch including the Chelsea players,"
he added.

"It's disappointing, we had to gamble in terms of the young centre
backs. Its not easy, you can always go with playing young forwards in
games of this magnitude but playing young central defenders away from
home, its going to be a difficult night for them and so it proved.

"We had control of the game, they had a lot of attacks, but nothing
really came of them and our counter attack was very good.

"But if you're winning 3-2 at the end of the game you really should
see it out. We only have ourselves to blame really."

WOMAN RIPPED APART AND KILLED BY HER DAUGHTER'S DOGS

A great-grandmother was mauled to death by a pack of dogs she was
feeding as a favour for her daughter.

The five animals pounced on Gloria Knowles, 71, after she went into
the garden to give them their evening meal.

The widow was badly injured when the dogs – two 'giant' Bordeaux
French mastiffs, two American bulldogs and a small mongrel – suddenly
turned on her. Neighbours described hearing 'hysterical screaming and
barking' from the garden.

Mrs Knowles lived next door to her daughter, Beverley Mason, with her
granddaughter, who has a baby of  her own.

Mrs Mason lives with her husband, Dylan, and her other three children.
The couple own the dogs together.

The family has run Harrington's pie and mash shop in Tooting, South
London, for several generations.

Police and ambulance services were called to the house in Morden, also
in South London, on Tuesday night.

Five dogs were later seized from the semi-detached property, and it
was revealed that Mrs Knowles had had a heart attack as the animals
set on her. Nazir Hussein, a friend and neighbour of Mrs Knowles, was
alerted to the attack when he heard Mrs Mason screaming 'Mum, Mum,
Mum' outside the house.

Mr Hussein, 65, said he had long been afraid of the family's dogs,
describing them as 'vicious'.

'I would see the dogs being walked in the park but I didn't want to
walk near them,' he said.

'They were vicious dogs – you knew by how they pulled on the lead and
you could hear them barking from my house.

'There were so many dogs something like this was bound to happen.'

Another neighbour, Kevin Hamilton, described hearing screams from Mrs
Mason's house at 5:15pm but mistook the noise, thinking it had come
from one of Mrs Knowles's grandchildren.

Mr Hamilton, 65, who lives in the other house next door to Mrs Mason,
described hearing 'hysterical screaming and barking' as he watched
television.

He only became aware of the attack when a police officer told him
about it, explaining that Mrs Knowles was alone in the house when she
went to feed the dogs. He said officers had told him it was Mr Mason
who discovered Mrs Knowles's body.

Mr Hamilton described the two mastiffs as 'real muscle dogs' with
'enormous chests', and said the animals had a 'pack mentality'. He
added: 'If one jumped on you it would certainly knock you over.'

He described Mrs Knowles, a widow,  as a 'fit old bird' who talked to
all the neighbours and enjoyed gardening.

She had lived on the street with her husband Victor for 40 years,
until he died five years ago. Neighbours said her daughter and her
family moved into the house next door the year after Mr Knowles's
death.

They explained that there was a gate between the gardens of the two
houses which Mrs Knowles would regularly use, often to feed the
animals.

Scene: Police have cordoned off the Morden home where Mrs Knowles died
last night

Scene: The back garden of Gloria Knowles' daughter Beverley where it
is believed the five dogs attacked her

Tragedy: Dog baskets and food bowls can be seen in the garden at the
scene where Gloria Knowles may have been mauled to death by the
animals

Animals removed: Police have seized the two French Mastiffs, the
American bulldogs and the mongrel pending the post-mortem

Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: 'The dogs were
always barking, everyone around here will tell you that.

'They had always had dogs but never any that big. They were not the
sort of dogs I would have around children, let me put it that way.'

ATTACK MIRRORS  PREVIOUS VIOLENT DEATHS IN LONDON

Two years ago Barbara Williams, 52, was mauled to death by an eight
stone Neapolitan mastiff in Wallington, south London.

The dog had been kept in a cage seven inches shorter than its body.
Earlier this year its owner Alex Blackburn-Smith, 35, admitted failing
to ensure the dog's welfare and was ordered to do 150 hours' unpaid
work and pay costs of £3,300 at Croydon Magistrates' Court.

In January Leslie Trotman, 83, died after he was mauled by a
'pitbull-type' dog that had broken out of his neighbour's garden in
Brentford, West London.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said:  'Police were called at around 6.25pm
on Tuesday to reports of a 71-year-old woman found deceased at a
residential address in Morden.'

He added that an investigation was under way to establish the cause of
death, and said the woman had sustained a 'number of injuries'.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: 'We were called at 6.12pm
to [a house] in Morden to a patient in cardiac arrest. Sadly, the
patient was dead at the scene.'

The family was too upset to talk last night. Mrs Knowles's death
follows a spate of attacks by dangerous breeds.

Earlier this year, Leslie Trotman, 83, died after being mauled by a
'pit bull-type' dog that had escaped from his neighbour's garden in
Brentford, London. And two years ago Barbara Williams, 52, was killed
by an eight-stone Neapolitan mastiff.

Its owner, Alex Blackburn-Smith, 35, admitted failing to ensure the
dog's welfare after it was discovered to have been living in a cage
seven inches shorter than its body.

Yoruba Singer : St Janet: My Husband Did Not Sleep With My Daughter

Raunchy singer St. Janet has denied news reports that her her husband,
Kayode Idun had sex with a 16-year old daughter of hers from a
previous relationship.

The lewd artist said, ""When I read the story I was shocked. I don't
know where it came from. Nothing of such happened to me or anybody I
know. My marriage is not perfect but it's intact. There's no issue of
my husband sleeping with my daughter.

I don't even have a 16 year old daughter. I have younger sisters who
live with me, but nothing of such ever happened. I strongly believe my
detractors are at work.

I am strongly investigating where the story came from. It was targeted
towards my career and they felt the best way they could go about I is
to go about spreading false tales about my
personal life."

Davido ft Akon – Dami Duro (remix) ( Song is sick and Akon flows are def on the remix of ”Dami Duro” )

We never thought Davido would ever revisit his monstrous hit 'Dami duro'.

But he's gone for a remix, with an international star Akon on it. Some
things should however be left untouched; as even Akon, a maestro of
collabos and remixes fails on this one.

The Konvict music boss who has remixed tracks with the likes of
Nigerian pop singers Psquare and Wizkid fails to repeat the magic on
Davido's cut; annoyingly raising his pitch, leaving the original
composer of the song Davido to beat him with his own verse…
